“Something wicked this way comes…”
18″ x 24″
Medium: Pen & Ink / Watercolor
The 100 Day Project will be a view of what I am doing in my Studio and without over a 100 day period.
As I create my works I will also attempt beginning an Arts Organization here in my hometown of Republic, Michigan.
DAY #28
I begin applying a light wash around the tracks in the snow and also the snow laying on the pins branches.
We are finally ready with printing the applications and packets for Republic Arts Council 2014 1st Annual “Mining the Arts” Festival in beautiful Republic, Michigan.
Please click on the link to the Arts Council and message me for further details.

Wolves in the Snow
It’s finally snowing in Illinois! This makes me think wistfully of the northern woods and bogs. One of the mammals on my list to illustrate for the game Evolve! happened to be the gray wolf, Canis lupis. I doubt I’ll see any wolf prints in the snow this far south, but one can always hope.
100 day project spine and rules: Creating structure and structures.
I am exploring the shape of houses and other architectural motifs though collage and mixed media.
My rules are to keep it simple, use easy to transport materials, mix things up and have fun.
I am influenced by the shape of Mayan architecture, abandoned buildings, ancient structures, arches and portals.

fits and starts
Well– fits and starts or ebb and flows– this is was what came out of that experience.
And so it begins…
I am really enjoying The 100 Day Project. I am at my bench, even if its only for a few minutes, every day. It helps to set out the materials for the next day before I leave the bench. Ideas are flowing and the textures are showing up in my jewelry. I anneal my copper pieces ahead of time, in batches of twelve, so they are ready to use.
Spine Statement and Rule
Spine statement: experiment with different textures on metal.
Rule: Each day, use an annealed, 2″ x3″, 24 gauge piece of copper.
It worked!
I was curious about using some embossing and etching dies I had. The first nine dies are meant for metal. I liked the embossing but not the etching dies. I ran them through a Cuttlebug machine (meant to be used for embossing paper for greeting cards) and they worked. I didn’t want to run the plastic dies that are meant for the Cuttlebug through my rolling mill – thought they might smush. So on day 20 I tried a plastic die, with metal, in the Cuttlebug and it worked without smushing it, which means I can use it over and over!
