This illustration made my husband squirm, but anyone who has hiked the U.P. knows this little guys well. I know ticks are parasites, but I actually find their seemingly random symmetrical marking patterns very beautiful. Work on this project has slowed as I continue to hunt for paying freelance illustration work. But the board game, Evolve!, is still on track for production, so I’ll keep plugging away!

Excellent illustration Cora!! I’ve seen hundreds of tick larvae on the crowns and the orbital rings of migrating Thrushes. As seen under the stereoscope, the larvae are translucent. I appreciate your work!
