Here is a fun work I am in process of creating for the Oasis Gallery’s Art in Bloom Silent Auction. Of course since was in Marquette I had to do my own fun take on a distinctive seen from Marquette, Michigan.
It’s almost completed now!

Classic
When I cut shapes and colors out of magazines, I save them for future collages. I loved these two faces and was happy that they both found a home in this particular Collorage.
Motif
As I was rearranging these shapes and colors, I found a similarity to the motifs of Native American textiles and rugs emerging in the final composition.
Blue Moons
As I was cutting these shapes I was struck by the blue spheres. A “blue moon” is a rare occurrence, but for this Collorage artistic license allows me multiple blue moons. 🙂
Ardor
These warm colors of pinks and orange evoke the heartfelt emotion of affection.
Glacial
As I was assembling these colors, they reminded me of deep glacial waters.
Project Exploration: Reconstruction to Construction
My project is about joyfully creating something out of nothing which gives me pleasure. The materials I use are pictures from discarded magazines which I transform into images that are meaningful to me. The first impact my images have on viewers is color. Therefore I call my collages “Collorages”.
Celestial Portal
This is the first collage I made for my project. It was inspired by the starry sky.
Arter Intro, Intro to Arter
I have proposed to shoot self portraits with cameras. I will often be holding a sign that reads:
“look at me, I’m an artist”. This is a personal experiment in identity as an artist or creative person.
Being new to the U.P., I will want to include outdoor surroundings, as I am inspired by this new
environment!
My rules (if I remember them correctly) are to spend at least 17mins a day on the project.
So far, I have discovered new angles on the idea, as I see other arters do as well.
Just rollin along
I’ve found a rhythm since I’m just using the rolling mill now. Pieces are ready, I roll them through the mill, patina and I’m done in a short time. Since I pretty much have a handle on the rolling mill, I’m going to try etching the metal next for texture. Reading up on the different methods, lots of choices.
