I have decided to put up my images in the Studio to see them all together. I love the variation. Am discovering new possibilities on my phone and am learning to make good prints.
Monthly Archives: February 2014
Start and days 1-10
I have selected my photo of a water lily and plan to render this in 100 different methods. Surprising how much I’m loving this process. Revisiting techniques I haven’t used in years.
Exploring in depth
I am going through all the plastic Cuttlebug folders that I might use with jewelry. I can see using bits or all of particular designs.
Days 11-20
More play!! Have so many ideas filling my head, each ones brings links to another idea
Bonding With The Landscape
I’ve decided to continue with sketching/painting the neo-tropical wood warblers for this 100-Day Project series. By staying with the warbler form, I’ve noticed improvements in both the sketch and the watercolor. I’m using my own photographs and Jim Flynn’s from Chris G. Earley’s , WARBLERS OF CANADA. I also consult Field Guides, such as SIBLEY and old Brooks and Fuertes illustrations. Creating a life-like pose has been a challenge. I’ve been sketching/painting to music, which I cannot do when I write. The first sketch of Blackburnian Warblers was to Zoe Keating (cellist) INTO THE TREES. This second work of male and female Bay-breasted Warblers was done to Nadia Sirota’s (violist), BAROQUE. The repetitious pen/ink detail required for the work is well suited to the sounds created by these artists (No lyrics).
spine and rules
Ordinary Everyday Moments: “Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are”. Memories held most sacred…Marianne Williamson. I am both curious and scared to begin the 100 day project. I have a mobile studio, due to my schedule and commute. I will be using photographs as a springboard. Photography was my first love and continues to bring me joy. The process of being in the moment and looking outward is my oxygen.
I have files of words, collage papers, and substrates to use with the photos. Also drawing and painting materials. Sketchbooks and boards will be my substrates. Time of work will depend on my schedule. I will be able to put more time in on weekends and revisit the week’s work. 100 pieces, 100 days. This is a way to make my moments “in between” tangible and physical…to work with them beyond the making of the images…post production.
“Something Wicked this way comes…” A hectic piece #30
This piece has been the most fun headache I have ever created.
First I applied all the pen & ink work as I would my normal works I create.
Now I am applying all the simple watercolor washes throughout the piece in preparation of the Scratch Art portion of this piece.
As for Republic Arts Council “Mining the Arts” Festival the members continue to set up vendors, musicians and other entertainment.
The Township has been so helpful. We will have Main street closed along with connected side streets so everyone can walk freely without fear of vehicles. The few local businesses are readying themselves.
My biggest fear is the Artists and Craftpersons showing up.
These past 30 days of The 100 Day Project have been the busiest of my life and I know will get more and more hectic.
God help us 🙂
Hang On!
Just a little encouragement.

DAY #28
I begin applying a light wash around the tracks in the snow and also the snow laying on the pins branches.
We are finally ready with printing the applications and packets for Republic Arts Council 2014 1st Annual “Mining the Arts” Festival in beautiful Republic, Michigan.
